| I never force the idea of what to paint; the idea forces me to paint. I use a jubilant spectrum of colors that celebrate the triumph of the human spirit. Slovak folk art, full of colorful ornaments and whimsies, are key to my work. The Velvet Revolution and my knowledge of English opened new doors for me. Traveling, meeting people and experiencing diverse cultures was always my passion, and art is my form of communication, connecting me to new people. I still don't take my freedom for granted, and it influences both my narrative works and my ‘musical’ works with their sense of movement and dancing backgrounds. I work when relaxed, in ink and acrylics, which I love for their quality and durability. Great art touches all senses, even those we may not be aware of. People smile and get inspired when they look at my work – and smiles can heal. |
