Profile
| As a youngster, my parents gave me blank sheets from old Apple Computer print outs and a box of crayons to keep me at bay when going to my brothers' sporting events. Little did they know that this would unfurl into a life-long exploration of the arts. Although I was heavily involved with our community's local high school Advanced Art Portfolio program, my alma mater (The Johns Hopkins University) did not offer any substantial training in the visual arts. This lead me to pursue art as therapy when time allowed. Staying true to the mechanics of drawing and painting, I soon developed a love/hate relationship with incorporating found objects into pieces. Though untrained in the academic sense, my commitment to the idea of exploring new methods of expression begged for certification.
After leaving my job at The American University in Cairo, a residency in Egypt introduced me to performance art, which then lead to an interest in photography as documenting the process. Later, I would receive another residency somewhere in the Sahara Desert where I became trained in the art of photography. While I still like to explore methods for creating new ideas of canvas- as well as performing at open mics- photography is becoming a larger avenue for success in the challenging field of art as business. When I am not busy founding A Library in Cairo (http://controlthefind.org) or hunkered over a computer programming new websites, I like to write poetry and am currently working on a fictitious book about the Egyptian Revolution. |

- Amorphous Conduction
- Description: Abstract taken from world renowned artist David Hockney's installation "Snails Space with Vari-Lites" at the Hirshhorn Museum in DC. I see this as an addition to his work, a super nova of continuum if you will.
- Defined
- Description: As if the spectrum were to be dissected, this is precisely what has occurred. By taking a moving photograph of a light fixture in a predominately dark room THROUGH the lens filters of another, broken camera, the spectrum has become entirely visible in an unfamiliar spectacle of beauty. These are the colors which make up our existence as per perception.
