| An artist for more than 35 years, Eva works by photographing subjects she has prepared in a number of unique ways. She calls the style she created “paintography”. It may involve painting watercolors, preparing flowers, altering slides, and/or special lighting techniques.
Eva’s art seeks to expose the complexity inside the subject. She often creates images which she find pleasurable and sensual, but she also moves past the “prettiness” of a subject to create an experience that has an emotional component. When she shoots an image that works for her, there is an “aha!” moment, a sense of completion that can’t be easily explained. She likes to explore her subjects in the moment rather than setting a scene carefully. She moves around the subject, finding surprises in it. She may start with an overall view, but as she moves in closer she finds an intricacy of detail and a wider range of color.
