John Stevenson has painted since his early childhood, learning a great deal from his father's love of fine art. With that passion instilled at such a young age he then decided to further his studies at George Brown College in Toronto, followed by a successful career as a graphic designer/illustrator. He now dedicates all of his time to his well loved career of painting. Painting with palette knives John cuts in a sense of composition and an attention to detail that comes from being on location, immersed in a natural environment, he has the ability to observe and interpret the sensations of nature into his paintings. John loves working with oils because he feels as though he “can make them dance” which enables him to achieve colors that are “more vibrant and subtle.” John truly enjoys exploring different scenes and experimenting with different styles. He has expressed that “I am putting everything I have learned over the years into my work. The painting I am working on now is better than the one I just finished.” Therefore his works are continuously evolving. My work has been shown in Toronto , Ottawa, Perth, Kingston and is hung in several private installations throughout Canada and the world.
