Profile
| I paint ordinary people doing everyday things at interesting places. My strongly edited realistic images of the world reflect the emotions and humor of life's interactions.
They are easy to understand, happy, colorful, often emotional, narrative or picture stories, scenes, and portraits. Bold contrasts and the limited palette of my paintings, draws you in with their brightness and color. Often with touches of Edward Hopper, Edward Biberman, Max Ginsburg, Andrew Wyeth, or David Arsenault, each with their compelling sense of mood, time, and place that describe moments of shared human experience. You, the viewer, are encouraged to engage your own unique thoughts, dreams, feelings, and experiences to complete the pictures in new and unexpected ways. |

- I Need My Space!
- Description: A man and a woman share a seat. A second woman sits close by with her back towards them. There seems to be tension between them. Do they know each other, or are they strangers. Why are they there? Does the presence of the second woman prevent conversation? Oil on canvas 16 x 20 inches Unframed with painted edges.
- Wistful Woman
- Description: A young woman looks out of a window at the unseen activity below. Does she want to join them? Is she waiting for first sight of friend approaching? Or at someone leaving. It is for the viewer to decide. Only her wistful look is a clue to her thoughts. Oil on canvas 16 x 20 inches Unframed with painted edges.
- Craps Shooting
- Description: As he throws the dice, the croupier and some other Crap Shooters watch for the results of the play. Have they won or lost? Gambling for money always draws people's attention. Except for the woman on the left, who perhaps is more interested in an unseen boyfriend, and the woman on the right who is counting her chips and preparing for the next roll. Oil on canvas 16 x 20 inches Unframed with painted edges.
- Family Time
- Description: A young couple pause to have a leisurely cup of coffee, while their daughter drinks some milk. They lovingly look at their little girl, while enjoying each others company. Oil on canvas 12 x 24 inches Unframed with painted edges.
- Parsols and Purses
- Description: Five ladies walk purposefully along a path on a bright sunny day. The first has a red parasol; the last, yellow. Each woman carries a colorful purse or handbag. Somehow there are interactions in their eagerness to move forward. Are they of the same family? Or, maybe part of a tour group? Where are they going? Oil on canvas 12 x 24 inches Unframed with painted edges.
- Serious Conversations
- Description: Four men discuss the problems of the day. Is it politics? Or perhaps the latest sports scores? One seated man seems to be leading the conversation, while the others listen. Even the man leaning on his bicycle is in no hurry to be on his way. Oil on canvas 16 x 20 inches Unframed with painted edges.
- Tabel for Three
- Description: Three men sit around a table with the remains of a meal, glasses, a carafe of wine, and a bottle of sparkling water. Are they friends, business colleagues, or may be planning some venture? Oil on canvas. 24 x24 inches. Unframed with painted edges.
- Ice Cubes
- Description: Nothing signifies better a hot day than an ice cool drink. The beach chairs are abandoned. The small table has five glasses containing full and partially finished iced drinks. What happened to their owners? Maybe they are soaking in the ocean, or a nearby pool. Oil on canvas. 16 x 20 inches. Unframed with painted edges.
