The Corvette, a ship that was small, fast and easy to maneuver protects the fleet. Explorers search the earth, moon and Galaxy. The Astronauts have a love affair with a car. Blue Angels display their speed, unity and American exceptionalism.
This Corvette Hood inspired me to think about the connection of the Astronaughts with the Corvette. That led me to contemplate the idea of exploration, speed and travel. This comes to head with America's love afair with cars, speed and motion. The earliest mention I found on the Corvette was that is was a small fleet ship used to protect the rest of the larger slower moving flotillas. Some say that is where the Corvette got its name.
Painting with airbrush on a 3D surfaces such as this hood ads another deminsion to the work. I also love that it makes you want to touch it. And the reflective quality of the clear coat makes it include whatever or whoever is around it.
